This photo makes me kind of sad
why should it make you sad? experimentation with the human appearance is almost a human instinct and has existed for tens of thousands of years. only recently has it implied self-consciousness. it’s a cool illustration.
It’s not about experimentation anymore, though, it’s a gripping obsession, a maniacal fixation with looking, weighing, acting a certain way that’s consumed people and ruined their faith in their own attributes and abilities.
Plenty of people don’t even wear makeup and are confident without it. I’m ambivalent to this topic, i believe people should have the freedom to wear makeup if they feel more confident while doing so and it makes them happy. However i do feel that its best to be able to have no makeup go about your day without being concerned people think your “ugly”. Great photo though
Its just, idk. I agree that girls be free to wear no makeup or pile it on as they wish, because who really has the right to care other than said girl wearing makeup? I just hate how some people illustrate makeup as a form of ‘hiding’ your appearance, and associate it with self-conciousness. It can be used as a form of self-expression, and can be used as enhancing, not hiding. I also dislike the idea that some people think a girl who never wears makeup is any better or above a girl that wears it daily, or that a bottleblonde pink-clad, high-heeled girl is any less intelligent than any other women. It’s all media, and it’s turning women against women, and we really do not need this. Just putting in my opinion hehe, I like seeing other people’s opinions on photos like these. xoxo
